A man of Manasseh who had no sons, named at Numbers 26:33 in the middle of the second census along with all five of his daughters — Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. ⚠ The verse explains nothing; it is a census entry with a gap in it, and the gap is the point, because the whole chapter is about who gets a share of land and the shares are being counted through sons. ⭐ Numbers 27 (now on these pages) is where the five come and stand before Moses and ask for their father's inheritance, and the law is changed in their favour; Numbers 36 comes back and qualifies the ruling by requiring them to marry within their own tribe so the land does not move. Two of the daughters' names outlive them: Tirzah becomes a city and a royal seat, and Noah is a different Hebrew name from Noah of the ark, which no English version can show.
