The Zamzummim

The Ammonites’ own name for the Rephaim who lived in their land before them (Deuteronomy 2:20-21) — the exact structural twin of the Emim three verses earlier, one nation over: same category of people, same height comparison to the Anakim, same fate, different national name. ⭐ The likeliest identification, reported and not forced: this is probably the same people Genesis 14:5 (already on these pages) already calls the Zuzim, struck by Chedorlaomer’s coalition centuries earlier — a foreign coalition-record’s label against the Ammonites’ own later word for their predecessors.
