A prophet of Kiriath-jearim who preached the same message as Jeremiah — 'according to all the words of Jeremiah' — and was executed for it by JEHOIAKIM (Jeremiah 26:20-23). He is named nowhere else in the Bible: no book, no other episode, five verses in total. ⚠ He fled to EGYPT, and the king sent a named official, Elnathan son of Achbor, to bring him back — a state extradition across an international border to retrieve a preacher. Jehoiakim then killed him personally with the sword and threw his corpse into 'the graves of the common people' rather than a family tomb, a deliberate final insult. ⚠ His whole story sits in the chapter as a counterweight: it is told immediately after Jeremiah's own acquittal, to establish that the verdict could easily have gone the other way, and for one man saying the identical thing in the same reign, it did. He is the Bible's clearest evidence that prophesying against Jerusalem was a capital risk and not a rhetorical pose. ⚠ Not the same man as URIAH THE HITTITE, Bathsheba's husband, four centuries earlier.
