A Greek convert and one of Paul's most trusted delegates — and, pointedly, an UNCIRCUMCISED Gentile whom Paul refused to have circumcised as a test case at Jerusalem (Galatians 2:1-3), making him a living argument for the gospel Paul preached. He is absent by name from Acts, but the letters show him on the hardest assignments: it was Titus, not Timothy, whom Paul sent to Corinth to repair the worst breach of his career, and whose return with good news brought the relief of 2 Corinthians 7. Here he is left on CRETE to organise its congregations; later he is bound for Dalmatia (2 Timothy 4:10). Paul calls him 'my true child according to a common faith' and 'my partner and fellow worker'.
