A small coastal region of southern Asia Minor, backed by the Taurus range, that Paul and Barnabas's first missionary journey passed through on the way inland (Acts 13:13, not yet on these pages) — the same passage this chapter cites only in retrospect, as the place John Mark turned back and went home to Jerusalem rather than continuing the work. It is named here just once, in Paul's own objection (v38), carrying the whole weight of the rupture that follows two verses later.
