The court prophet who confronts David over Bathsheba and Uriah (2 Samuel 12), and whose arrival is named in the superscription of Psalm 51. ⚠ What makes the confrontation famous is its method: Nathan does not accuse. He tells a STORY — a rich man with many flocks who takes a poor man's one ewe lamb — and lets David pronounce the death sentence himself before saying 'you are the man'. He also delivers the dynastic promise of 2 Samuel 7, and later secures Solomon's succession (1 Kings 1). A prophet who works by getting people to convict themselves.
