Micah's home village — a farming town in the Judean Shephelah (lowland foothills), roughly 25 miles south-west of Jerusalem and near the old Philistine border-city of Gath, from which it takes its second name. It gives Micah his title, 'the Morashtite.' ⚠ In his town-by-town lament (1:14) Micah mourns his OWN home by a pun: Moresheth chimes with me'orasah, 'betrothed,' and the verse says the village will be given 'parting gifts' (shilluchim, a bride's dowry send-off) — handed over to the enemy like a girl married off. Commonly identified with Tell ej-Judeideh (Tel Goded).
