King of Salem and 'priest of God Most High' (El Elyon) — the Bible's first priest, who meets Abram returning from battle with bread and wine, blesses him, and receives a tenth of everything. His name means 'my king is righteousness.' He appears only here and in Psalm 110:4, and the letter to the Hebrews (chapters 5–7) makes his order the type of Christ's own priesthood.
