Mariam of Nazareth. Luke gives her more attention than any other evangelist — the annunciation, the Magnificat, the treasuring of things in her heart — and then hands her the quietest possible exit: ⚠ Acts 1:14 is the LAST mention of Mary in the New Testament, and in it she is simply in the room, praying with the others, holding no office and given no last word. She is named among 'the women' and beside 'his brothers' — the brothers who, one Gospel says flatly, 'did not believe in him' (John 7:5) and who are now waiting with the rest. The vast later structure of Marian doctrine and devotion is built elsewhere; the Bible's own final image of her is a woman at prayer in an upstairs room, indistinguishable from the crowd.
