A Levite who led a revolt against the authority of Moses and Aaron in the wilderness, claiming the whole congregation was holy and needed no mediators; the earth opened and swallowed him and his company (Numbers 16). Jude makes him the type of rebellion against God-given leadership: the false teachers 'perished in the rebellion (antilogia) of Korah' (1:11) — the third of his three named ruins, after Cain's murder and Balaam's greed.
