The watercourse near Hebron where the scouts cut a single cluster of grapes so large they carried it on a pole between two men, and took pomegranates and figs besides (Numbers 13:23). The place is named for the fruit: eshkol is Hebrew for a CLUSTER, so it is the Wadi of the Cluster — one of the Torah's many place-names that explain themselves in the same breath. ⚠ Its location is not known; the traditional siting is a valley just north of Hebron, but that rests on the story rather than on evidence, and the coordinates here point at a region, not a site. Deuteronomy 1:24 (already on these pages) puts the same valley in the people's-idea version of the mission.
