A spring at the junction of the Kidron and Hinnom valleys, below and outside Jerusalem — usually identified with Bir Ayyub, 'Job's Well.' It marks the boundary between Judah and Benjamin (Joshua 15:7), and it is where David's spies waited during Absalom's revolt (2 Samuel 17:17). In 1 Kings 1 Adonijah holds his coronation feast here, by the Stone of Zoheleth — out of sight of the city, which is precisely the difference between his claim and Solomon's.
