Elath

A port at the head of the Gulf of Aqaba, named alongside its neighbor Ezion-geber as the southern route Israel took past Edom’s territory (Deuteronomy 2:8). Centuries later it becomes a contested Judean/Edomite border town, changing hands repeatedly in the books of Kings and Chronicles.
