Nachal Mitzrayim — the south-western corner of the land, where the border turns from Azmon and runs out to the sea (Numbers 34:5). ⚠ It is a WADI, not the Nile: a seasonal watercourse that runs after rain and is dry the rest of the year, generally identified with the Wadi el-Arish across northern Sinai. The distinction is not pedantry — a reader who takes it for the Nile puts Israel’s border a hundred miles deeper into Egypt than the text does. ⭐ Nachal, a torrent-bed, is spelled with the same three letters as nachalah, an inheritance — the word this same chapter uses seven times. Separate roots that happen to have fallen together; but the letters are the letters, and this chapter collects three such coincidences.
