The named region inside Bashan that carries Og's sixty fortified cities — 'all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og' (Deuteronomy 3:4). Named three times in one chapter (vv4, 13, 14), it is granted to the half tribe of Manasseh, then conquered a second time, by name, when Jair takes it and renames its villages Havvoth-jair. ⚠ The Hebrew has no settled etymology; a connection to regeb, 'clod' or 'rocky ground,' is often proposed and fits the terrain — the Lejah is a genuinely forbidding volcanic basalt plateau, which may be exactly why its sixty cities needed 'high walls, gates, and bars' to begin with.
