'Flowing with milk and honey' — the land-promise's signature phrase, first spoken here (3:8, 17) and repeated some twenty times through the Torah. 'Milk' from flocks on good pasture, 'honey' (devash — wild bee-honey, or the thick syrup of dates/figs) from fruited hills: not luxury but a land that FEEDS its people, the opposite of Egypt's rationed bricks-and-straw.
