To PLOT — not to think, and not merely to intend: a settled purpose that a person has resolved on and means to carry through. ⭐ The verb stands in five verses of the Hebrew Bible and the distribution is the whole point. Three have Jehovah as the subject — Lamentations 2:17 (Jehovah has done what he purposed), Jeremiah 51:12 of Babylon, and Zechariah 1:6, whose clause is a twin of the one below. One is Psalm 37:12, the wicked plotting against the righteous. ⚠ The fifth is Deuteronomy 19:19, where a false witness is sentenced to whatever he plotted to do to his brother — a punishment measured by intention, since the perjury was caught before it landed and nothing was actually done. ⭐ Compare Leviticus 24:19, which is the same sentence with the other verb: as he has DONE, so shall it be done to him.
