THE DAY OF JEHOVAH — the day God acts decisively in judgment and vindication. ⚠ Joel is where it becomes a doctrine: the phrase falls five times in his four chapters, more concentrated than anywhere else in the Bible. And the point a reader should not miss is that IT IS NOT ONLY FOR ISRAEL'S ENEMIES — Amos had already said so bitterly ('why do you want the day of Jehovah? it is darkness and not light,' 5:18), and in Joel the locusts on Judah's own fields are its near edge.
