ye'or יְאוֹר ye'or

The NILE — Egypt's OWN word for its river (Egyptian itrw), used in Hebrew almost only of the Nile (KJV 'the river'; NWT 'the Nile River'). The babies are thrown into the ye'or (1:22) — the same river a basket will float on (2:3), and the first the plagues turn to blood (7:20). Borrowed once, memorably, for the Tigris of Daniel's vision (Daniel 12:5). → first discussed at Gen 1:22
