NEW WINE, must — wine still in the vat, as distinct from YAYIN, the finished drink. It belongs to a fixed triad, dagan / tirosh / yitzhar (grain, new wine, fresh oil), which is Hebrew's standing shorthand for an entire harvest, and all three name the RAW product: yitzhar likewise is oil straight from the press rather than shemen. ⚠ The distinction is routinely flattened. The KJV's 'thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil' at Deuteronomy 11:14 loses all three, and its 'corn' is the older English word for grain of any kind, not maize — a live trap for a modern reader. The ASV corrects to 'grain' and 'new wine'. ⚠ Whether tirosh is fermented is genuinely disputed and the answer is probably 'partly': it is something one can be drunk on (Hosea 4:11) and also something pressed out the same day. → first discussed at Deut 11:14
