GLORY — and BEAUTY, splendour, the adornment of a thing; from pa'ar, to beautify. Aaron's vestments are made for glory and for beauty with it (Exodus 28:2, already on these pages); grey hair is a crown of glory (Proverbs 16:31) and children's glory is their fathers (17:6, neither yet on these pages); Lamentations throws the beauty of Israel from heaven to earth (Lamentations 2:1, already on these pages). ⭐ At Deuteronomy 26:19 it is the last of the three things Israel is set high for — for praise and for a name and for glory — the high priest's second adjective given to a whole people; Jeremiah 13:11 (not yet on these pages) quotes all three back with a people in front of them. ⚠ The NWT 1984 keeps Aaron's word, 'beauty', where the KJV, ASV and NIV print 'honour' and the Geneva 'glory'. In later Jewish thought Tif'eret became the name of one of the ten emanations of the kabbalah — a use the Bible knows nothing of. → first discussed at Deut 26:19
