teref טֶרֶף teref

PREY — torn flesh, what a predator brings back. It is what the young lions seek from God at Psalm 104:21 and what the lion tears at Amos 3:4. ⚠ Proverbs 31:15 says the woman of valour rises in the night and gives TEREF to her household, and every version on the shelf quietly domesticates it to 'food' or 'meat'. The picture in the Hebrew is a hunting animal provisioning a den. → first discussed at Prov 31:15
