PRAISE — from halal, the verb behind halleluyah. It is the noun that names the book of Psalms in Hebrew: Tehillim, Praises. ⭐ What makes Deuteronomy 10:21 worth a note is that it does not say God is praised or that he deserves praise; it says hu tehillatekha — he IS your praise, a bare identification with no verb of doing in it at all, the same shape as ‘Jehovah is his inheritance’ twelve verses earlier. ⚠ It is a hard sentence to leave alone, and most of the shelf does not: the RV60 supplies «el objeto de», the NWT 1984 ‘the One for you to praise’, the TNM 1987 «A él corresponde tu alabanza».
