Whole, sound, blameless — integrity of a piece, not sinless perfection. Noah's word (6:9); asked of Abraham at 17:1: 'walk before me and be blameless.' In Leviticus the same word becomes the standard for every sacrifice: the animal must be tamim, 'without blemish' (1:3, 10) — the whole, unflawed victim mirrors the whole, unflawed walk God asks of the worshipper.
