QUICKLY, soon — an adverb of SPEED, not of certainty. ⚠ 'I am coming tachy' is said eight times in Revelation, three of them in the last chapter (22:7, 22:12, 22:20) plus en tachei, 'soon', at 22:6, and twice earlier (2:16, 3:11). It is the last thing the book's speaker says before the benediction. Translations that render it 'surely' or 'suddenly' are managing a difficulty the Greek does not have: the word means quickly, and it has now been quickly for nineteen centuries. This translation does not soften it. → first discussed at Rev 22:7
