A TRIPLE compound: syn (with) + anti (facing, over against) + lambanomai (take hold). To get under the other end of a load — taking hold of it WITH someone and FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE. Its only other New Testament use is Luke 10:40, where Martha wants Mary to come and take the other end of the work. At Romans 8:26 the Spirit does this in our weakness, and every version on the shelf reduces it to 'helpeth' or 'ayuda' — true, and a fraction of the word.
