stegō στέγω stegō

To COVER — from stege, a roof. Hence both to shelter something and to keep something in, and hence the genuine ambiguity at 1 Corinthians 13:7: love either BEARS all things or COVERS them, and the Greek supports both. The ambiguity belongs to Paul, not to the translator. → first discussed at 1 Corinthians 13:7
