TO SAVE — and, in the same breath, TO HEAL; Greek does not force a choice between the two senses the way English does. It is the verb of Jesus' own name, unfolded at his naming: 'you shall call his name Jesus, for he will SAVE (sōsei) his people from their sins' (Matthew 1:21). Matthew 9 puts the same verb in three mouths in three verses over the bleeding woman — her own hope ('I will be sozō,' 9:21), Jesus' verdict ('your faith has sesōken you,' 9:22), and the narrator's confirmation ('the woman was esōthē,' 9:22) — so a chapter about physical healing keeps sounding, in its own vocabulary, exactly like the larger promise the name itself made. → first discussed at Matt 9:21
