'ENMITY, opposition' — the name of the second contested well (26:21). From the verb satan, 'to oppose, accuse, be an adversary' — the very root behind ha-SATAN, 'the accuser/adversary' (Job 1; Zechariah 3), and the name Satan the New Testament carries over untranslated. The related noun sitnah later heads a legal 'accusation' filed against the returning exiles (Ezra 4:6).
