A HIDING-PLACE, a covert — the concealed spot you get behind, from satar, to hide. Psalm 91 opens there: 'the one who sits in the seter of the Most High.' The noun carries no sense of a fortress or a height; it is simply somewhere you cannot be seen, which is why the psalm pairs it immediately with a shadow and with a verb for staying the night. ⭐ With the preposition, ba-sater, IN SECRET, it is the word for two of Deuteronomy 27’s twelve curses: the idol set up in secret (27:15) and the neighbour struck in secret (27:24, both now on these pages), after the enticer of 13:7 who speaks in secret.
