The BUSH — a thornbush or bramble, the one Moses sees burning unconsumed (3:2). Rare (almost only this scene, plus Deuteronomy 33:16, 'him who dwelt in the seneh'), and it carries a quiet pun: seneh sounds like SINAI, the mountain it burns on — as if the bush names the mountain, or the mountain is a bush grown to stone. The fire that does not devour is the whole sign: a Presence that can dwell in the fragile without destroying it. → first discussed at Exod 3:2
