To SCREEN, cover over, hedge in — and by extension to weave a covering; the same root gives the sukkah, the booth of branches. Psalm 139:13 uses it of the womb ('you SCREENED me in my mother's belly'), which makes the womb a shelter woven around someone rather than merely a container. The cherubim 'screen' the ark's cover with their wings (Exodus 25:20) and God 'screens' with his hand (Exodus 33:22). → first discussed at Psalms 139:13
