A FOURTH PART — a rare noun built on arba, four. ⭐ The phrase rova Yisrael stands in exactly one verse of the Hebrew Bible, Numbers 23:10, where it is parallel to ‘the dust of Jacob’; the only other use of the noun in this sense is a measure of grain in 2 Kings 6:25. Most of the shelf prints the arithmetic (‘the fourth part’), the Douay reads ‘the stock’, and the sense is genuinely disputed — some read a dust-cloud, some a division. ⚠ The book itself supplies a reading the versions do not take: Numbers 2 arranged the camp on FOUR sides, three tribes to a side, so ‘the fourth part of Israel’ seen from a hilltop is plausibly one of the four blocks a man standing above it can actually count. → first discussed at Num 23:10
