A PERFUMER, blender of spices — from the verb rakach, 'to compound, blend.' Exodus 30 leans on the whole word-family twice, once for each of its two recipes: the holy anointing oil is made 'a blended perfume, THE WORK OF A PERFUMER' (rokach ma'aseh rokeach, 30:25), and the incense recipe closing the same chapter is made 'a blended perfume, THE WORK OF A PERFUMER' — the identical four-word Hebrew phrase, verbatim, at 30:35. Recipe and craftsman share one root twice over in a single chapter, the same cognate-noun device already flagged for 'the ram OF FILLING' (Exodus 29, already on these pages). The verb returns once more at 30:33, now as a warning: whoever COMPOUNDS (yirkach) anything like the holy oil for himself, or gives it to an outsider, is cut off from his people. → first discussed at Exod 30:25
