Offering — literally 'that which is brought near' (from qarav, 'to draw near, approach'). The Bible's basic word for a sacrifice frames it not as destruction but as APPROACH: the worshipper draws near to God by bringing a gift near to the altar. The KJV renders it 'oblation'/'offering'; Mark 7:11 preserves the very word, 'Corban.' Leviticus 1:2 is its first occurrence. → first discussed at Lev 1:2
