A HORN — literally an animal's horn, and by extension a standing symbol of STRENGTH or POWER, especially royal or military power (a king's or a nation's horn is 'exalted'; smashing one is the ancient shorthand for humbling it). Zechariah's second vision puts four of them onstage with no names attached — 'the horns that scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem' (2:2), any and every power that has broken this people, without singling one out. ⚠ Later apocalyptic ties the same image to specific empires — each of Daniel's horns corresponds to a named kingdom (Daniel 8, not yet on these pages) — a sharper, historically anchored use of the identical symbol. → first discussed at Zechariah 2:1
