TO SCATTER — and, in its causative, to scatter something: the verb of Babel. Jehovah scattered them from there over the face of the whole earth (Genesis 11:8, 9), Jacob’s sentence on Simeon and Levi (49:7, scatter them in Israel), and the ark’s war-cry, rise up, Jehovah, and let your enemies be scattered (Numbers 10:35, all already on these pages). ⭐ This book turns it on Israel: Deuteronomy 4:27 (already on these pages), Jehovah will scatter you among the peoples, and 28:64, among all the peoples, from the end of the earth to the end of the earth; 30:3 will gather from the same scattering, and Nehemiah 1:8 (already on these pages) quotes the sentence back to God as Moses’ own. ⚠ Leviticus 26:33 (already on these pages) says the same thing with zarah, to winnow.
