To WASH — of cloth and objects rather than of people (that is louō or niptō). Three occurrences in the New Testament: Luke 5:2, where fishermen wash their nets, and twice in Revelation. ⚠ Both Revelation uses are the same phrase: 'they WASHED THEIR ROBES and made them white in the blood of the Lamb' (7:14) and 'blessed are those who WASH THEIR ROBES' (22:14). That second one is the disputed reading — the Textus Receptus behind the KJV has instead 'blessed are those who do his commandments', poiountes tas entolas autou against plynontes tas stolas autōn, four syllables apart in the same rhythm. The internal evidence is decisive: the phrase is already in the book fifteen chapters earlier. → first discussed at Rev 22:14
