phylē kai glōssa kai laos kai ethnos φυλή καὶ γλῶσσα καὶ λαὸς καὶ ἔθνος phylē kai glōssa kai laos kai ethnos

TRIBE AND TONGUE AND PEOPLE AND NATION — a four-part formula for the whole of humanity, first sung of the redeemed at 5:9 and repeated, with the four nouns reshuffled each time, six more times before the book ends (7:9, 10:11, 11:9, 13:7, 14:6, 17:15). ⚠ No two of the seven occurrences list the four words in the same order, which the library reports as a feature of the book's style rather than a puzzle to solve — a set phrase varied on purpose, not a fixed formula copied mechanically. → first discussed at Rev 5:9
