INTERPRETATION — the Aramaic word for the meaning of a dream, sign, or oracle, paired all through Daniel with RAZ (mystery): the king demands both the dream and its PISHRA (2:6). It is the same root as the Hebrew PESHER that names the Dead Sea Scrolls' running commentaries ('the PESHER of this is…'), a whole Jewish way of reading in which a text's true meaning is a disclosed secret.
