ESCAPE, DELIVERANCE — and by extension those who escape, the survivors; from PALAT, to slip away to safety. Joseph's third salvation word in three verses: 'to keep you alive LI-FLETAH GEDOLAH — for a great deliverance' (45:7). This translation keeps MICHYAH, SHE'ERIT and PELETAH as three distinct words rather than merging them into a single 'to save your lives,' because Joseph is deliberately stacking them: life preserved, a remnant set in place, an escape on a large scale.
