Two Hebrew nouns for two distinct tabernacle hangings, easily conflated in translation and in the Greek text that later reports one of them torn. The PAROCHET (26:31-33) is the inner VEIL, woven with cherubim, dividing the holy place from the most holy — where the ark itself stands. The MASAKH (26:36-37) is the outer SCREEN at the tent's public door, plainer, embroidered but carrying no cherubim. The Septuagint translates both with the same Greek word, katapetasma — which is why Matthew 27:51 ('the curtain of the sanctuary was torn in two,' already on these pages) genuinely cannot specify which of the two is meant. → first discussed at Exod 26:31
