ho nikōn ὁ νικῶν ho nikōn

'The one who overcomes' — the victor. Each of the seven letters ends with a promise to ho nikōn (Rev 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21), and every promise is paid at the book's end: the tree of life (22:2), immunity to the second death (20:6), the new name, the morning star (22:16). The seventh and last promise — 'to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne' (3:21) — is cashed almost word for word at 21:7: 'the one who overcomes will inherit these things.' → first discussed at Rev 2:7
