TO FALL — and, of land, to be allotted. ⭐ Numbers 34:2 says the land of Canaan shall FALL to you as an inheritance (tippol), which reads like a slip in English and is not: this is the vocabulary of the goral, the lot. A marked token is thrown and it FALLS on someone — and v13 of the same chapter says ‘by lot’ outright, eleven verses later. ⚠ Nine of the thirteen versions on this project’s two shelves keep the falling; four replace it with allotting or receiving.
