Noah's name-hope (5:29) returns as God's regret (6:6): one root, opposite moods. ⚠ In Jeremiah 18 it becomes neither a name nor a mood but a STATED POLICY, twice over: 'if that nation turns back from its evil… then I RELENT of the evil I devised' (18:8), and the same machinery in reverse for a nation that stops listening (18:10). That is the hinge of the potter chapter — the image is usually read as pure sovereignty, but the oracle built on it is conditional, and nacham is the word that makes it so.
