REST — a settled security, a place to come to rest. Naomi prays Jehovah give her daughters-in-law MENUCHAH and spells out what she means, 'in the house of her husband' (Ruth 1:9): the safety of a home and marriage. It is the one thing the widowed, landless Naomi cannot provide, and the very thing the whole book circles back to give Ruth through Boaz (3:1, 'shall I not seek REST for you?'). The same root gives the Psalm's 'still waters,' literally 'waters of rest' (Psalm 23:2). → first discussed at Ruth 1:9
