mal'akh מַלְאָךְ mal'akh

Messenger — human or heavenly; 'angel' is simply the Greek for it (angelos). 'The angel of Jehovah' first appears at 16:7, speaking in God's own first person — see the note there for the three readings. ⚠ Psalm 91:11 is the verse the devil quotes at Matthew 4:6 — 'he will command his angels concerning you' — and the clause he leaves out is the next one. → first discussed at Gen 16:7
