A BLOW — and from that a wound, and from that a plague; the noun of nakah, to strike. ⭐ In this book it is first a judge’s stroke: Deuteronomy 25:2–3 (already on these pages) has the guilty man beaten by count and stops the blows at forty. At 28:59 the blows are Jehovah’s, great and lasting plagues on you and on your seed; the plural stands in two verses of this book, that one and 29:21. ⚠ It is the word for a wound that will not heal: Isaiah 1:6 (already on these pages), wound and welt and raw gash; Jeremiah 30:12, your wound is severe; Micah 1:9, her wound is incurable (both already on these pages).
