kikkar כִּכָּר kikkar

A disc, circle — hence 'plain': the round, well-watered Jordan valley Lot chooses (13:10-12). The same word also names a TALENT, a round ingot of silver or gold — the sense it carries at Exodus 25:39, sizing the gold the lampstand takes. Scholarly estimates for the weight vary by period and standard, but a common approximation is roughly 75 pounds (about 34 kilograms) — the largest weight unit in the Bible, whichever object it is disc-shaped enough to name. → first discussed at Gen 13:10
