The structural upright of the tabernacle's walls (26:15-29) — KJV/ASV/NASB translate 'board', a solid plank standing edge to edge; NIV/ESV/NLT translate 'frame', an open lattice with the fabric curtains forming the visible wall. Both readings are defended and neither is settled: a solid acacia plank ten cubits tall would be extraordinarily heavy to carry, and would hide the cherubim-woven inner curtains (26:1) from the priests inside — the case for a frame. This translation keeps the traditional 'board'. → first discussed at Exod 26:15
